Sointula to Port Hardy Trip


September 15-18, 2017 (4 days – 24 miles and 2 days paddling)

This is a beautiful route with a high likelihood of seeing Orcas, Humpback Whales, Minke Whales, Dalls Porpoise, Pacific White Sided Dolphins, seals, sealions, Rhinoceros Auklets, and more. It begins with a short ferry ride and a paddle along the shores of Malcolm Island. After a break we will cross Broughton Strait and paddle up the Vancouver Island coastline. Next we will camp on the Cattle Islands and explore the islands around Dillon Point and Hardy Bay. We will end up with a beer and seafood feast in Port Hardy.

NSSKA Trip Rating: IV-C (1-2 mile open water crossing, potential for waves and surf landings/launches, potential for currents and high winds)
